Bleach 632 - Friend 2

Another chapter of Bleach is out, so let's talk about it.

Spoilers and random convenience after the cut.

There are two main points to chapter 632: Haschwald is fairly useless at being a Quincy; he's been Bach's "other half" for quite a while.

Much of the chapter is devoted to the circumstances of the five years that passed between the fire that destroyed Bazz-B's home and the time he and Haschwald wanted to strike back at Bach.

Bazz-B, being the fiery individual that he is, challenges the soldiers that are looking for potential Stern Ritter.  The fight amounts to nothing as Bach shows up and practically levels everyone in the area with just his reiatsu.

So even though Bazz-B is the stronger of the two, he is reduced to nothing by the power Bach possesses.  Meanwhile, Haschwald stands unaffected.

This is obviously a result of Haschwald being Bach's "other half".  And while that point is made, it isn't expounded upon.  Not yet.

So we don't know the extent of the connection between Bach and Haschwald.

However, given the sheer power that Bach had in that time (before he was "defeated" or "sealed away" by Yamamoto-Genryuusai and the Gotei 13), it's really no surprise that Haschwald is essentially powerless.  If they are connected in the way that "other half" connotes, then it is clear that Bach's power is the cause of Haschwald's lack of power.  And if Bach's power wanes, Haschwald's power would rise proportionally.

Thus when Bach was sealed away, Haschwald was likely the strongest Quincy to exist.

Of course, there's the question of Ryuuken and where he belongs in the hierarchy.  Given what we know about his father (and Souken's denial of so-called "Quincy evolution"), it is likely that while Ryuuken is incredibly strong, he is at the same time limited in comparison to those that would make up the Stern Ritter.

Even though chapter 632 didn't tell us much, this flashback remains intriguing.
