Bleach 650 & 651 - The Theatre Suicide Scene 4 & Scene 5

Another chapter of Bleach is out, so let's talk about it.

Let's talk about the one from last week too, shall we?

Spoilers and the ol' bait-and-switch after the cut.

So in chapter 650, Kyouraku narrowly escapes Barro and is then woken up by his VC Ise Nanao before the bankai manifestation of Katen Kyoukotsu can take him away.  He then lets it slip that Kyoukotsu is actually Nanao's zanpakutou.

Not confusing at all, right?

Of course, it just gets worse in 651.

We learn that Nanao comes from a cursed family who also specialize in Shinto rituals.  Thus, the individual members have no zanpakutou; the zanpakutou that Kyouraku previously referred to as "Kyoukotsu" is actually the holy sword Hakkyouken.

And apparently, Kyouraku is the man that Nanao loves.  I hope he doesn't walk under any ladders in the near future.

It is said that while the sword has no blade and cannot cut a man, it'll have no problem dealing with a god.  So I guess that means Nanao will now be enough of a badass to take out Barro?

In any case, this could have been a fairly easy matter with Nanao's zanpakutou. Instead, it was handled in a clumsy and overly complicated manner.

Then again, that's what we've come to expect, isn't it?
