First Bleach chapter of 2015! Let's talk about it!
Spoilers after the cut.
After four weeks, we should have something exciting to read and digest.
And then chapter 612 dropped. Well, that happened.
The disappointment associated with a chapter is nothing new. Hell, even one that came out 27 days after the previous one is not inherently surprising in its lack of quality.
So that's not really a big deal and I don't want to make it seem bigger than it is. I did think it was worth mentioning, though, since 27 days have passed and chapter 612 does very little to move the story forward.
In fact, what we have in the first few pages is basically a recap of 611. Bach/Yhwach/His Majesty/whatever the hell you want to call him stabs the Soul King. Ichigo and Hyousube look like they're thinking deeply.
And down on the ground in Seireitei/Vandenreich, Urahara is gathering the captains to...invade Reioukyuu (*facepalm*).
I guess it'll work, since it's Urahara guiding the effort. But it's stupid and pointless for the captains to head up to Reioukyuu, even if Kyouraku and Ukitake are leading the charge. The elite Stern Ritter decimated the Royal Guard and it is understood that the RG are stronger than the current Gotei 13 captains. So what's the point, really?
Setting up the final battle, I suppose.
Although at this pace, the manga could go through this year and into next before concluding with what will likely be a thud.
