The Bridge (US) - Season 2, Episode 13 "Jubilex" Recap

A neat and tidy resolution?

Spoilers after the cut.

If there's one word that describes The Bridge's Season 2 finale is is "easy".

All of the storylines that have been twisting, diverging, and eventually converging have resolved so simply and so easily that it's a wonder and a frustration at the same time.

Now, this might have a little (or a lot) to do with the fact that the show is supposedly on thin ice with the network and as such is facing cancellation rather than renewal for Season 3.  And if it turns out that the show gets cancelled, then I guess I'm fine with how "Jubilex" proceeded.

Of course, if the show gets renewed, it probably won't be too much trouble to rebuild a compelling structure based on how Season 2 ended.

But as of right now, everything looks neat and clean.

The highlights?  Fausto captured, Eleanor captured, Buckley dead, Sebastian chastened (if not exactly "defeated").  Frye and Adriana were given a huge gift by Hank in their continued quest to chronicle the war between the CIA and DEA. Linder and Eva ended up together after all.

If there's anything that remains for a potential Season 3, it's how the Juarez police moves on after the supposed resignation of Capitan Robles.  And finding Robles might also play a role.

Plus, it's not like capturing Fausto will make the cartel go away entirely.

It was an excellent season, but I admit that I'm a bit disappointed with how neatly and easily Season 2 concluded.  As much as people complain about Season 1 ended with Fausto and Marco conspiring to kill David Tate, it left a feeling that there was somewhere to go.  "Jubilex" doesn't really give me that feeling.  It feels like the series has concluded, which may yet be the case.
