Spoilers ahoy in 3...2...1...
I'm not sure how much of that will actually affect the story. What's funny about it is that Sonya wasn't involved in any of it, even though she propositioned a guy in the bar in a previous episode.
At any rate, the episode began with Ray and Graciela meeting about the tunnel. Ray wants to run guns through to Mexico (bad idea, dude, the ATF is already on to you) and Graciela accedes to this after asking how he feels about rough sex.
Sonya and Marco are on the trail of a guy named Jack Childress. They find his address and head over to his house; he's not there, but his manifesto and a large map are. They look over the material and conclude that he's the killer. Personally, I'm not so sure. It feels a little too easy. And without a witness to corroborate (since Gina was killed in the previous episode), I don't think they'll be able to nail him for anything.
An interesting side story involves Mrs. Ruiz and her co-worker who tried to put the moves on her last time. It seems that since Marco stepped out more than once before, she's entitled to some as well. I had no problem with how she treated Marco before this, but now that she's engaging in the same activity, I have to wonder what's going to happen between them.
As usual, Charlotte and Ray are shown having sex. She's concerned about whether or not she can trust him. We know she probably can't. I'm not sure what she thinks, but it's probably a bad idea for her to base her trust on what he says during sex.
We also find out that Linder kidnaps girls at the behest of a woman. Apparently, he's helping them make better lives for themselves. This time around, he's tasked with saving the daughter of his employer, who appears to be dating Fausto Galvan. Bad idea. Galvan takes to the idea much as one would expect, by nearly shooting Linder.
The standoff with Childress takes up most of the rest of the episode. He starts off by shooting Sheriff's Deputy Stokes (a grisly scene, that one) and then runs out of his hiding place to confront Sonya. They shoot each other, and then Marco, Hank, and Cooper come down to arrest Childress. Sonya appears to be seriously injured. She is shown in her house later on looking at her wound and putting her hand up to her neck. Apparently it was closer to being a fatal blow than it looked. Or maybe there's something else going on that is yet to be revealed.
Episode 8 promises to be pivotal. Given that it's a bit too early to reveal the killer for certain, especially when Childress is cooling his heels in El Paso PD, I'm sure there are more surprises coming. No easy resolution here.
