Another chapter of Bleach is out, so let's talk about it.
Spoilers and frayed ends of sanity after the cut.
Oh, hey, it's a Mayuri battle.
Well, it's been that way for a couple weeks now, to be sure, but this week's chapter just added more nonsense onto that burning pile of ...fertilizer.
At this point I don't really see how Mayuri and Nemu win. How can they beat Pernida after what just happened?
Pernida has been evolving through some process that we the readers aren't yet able to comprehend (much less explain). Mayuri theorized that Pernida used his "nerves" to come in contact with people and thus somehow acquire parts of their power, but that's not really anything substantial.
Or it is substantial and I'm not smart enough to connect all the dots.
As a one-off explanation of a phenomenon, it works well enough to run with, I suppose, but I'd rather see something more concrete. And there's the rub, as usual.
Anyway, the chapter ends with Nemu getting pissed and jumping toward Pernida...so maybe that means something.
But if the gambit Mayuri prepared in this chapter didn't work, I'm especially skeptical concerning Nemu's chances of even denting Pernida, much less killing the bastard. And if these two darlings of the manga can't kill Pernida, I don't think it can be done.
I've been surprised before. Not to mention hilariously wrong.
It would be nice to move on from this nonsense battle, though. Remember that this is merely the first of the elite Stern Ritter; we still have to go through Valkyrie, Barro, and Nakk le Varr before getting to Haschwald, Ishida, and finally Bach himself (I guess).
