Bleach 564 - Red-Bristled Kings

The first Bleach chapter of 2014 is out.  So let's talk about it!

Spoilers and assorted hilarity after the cut.

It's been a while since we last saw a new chapter of Bleach.  The fight between Renji and the luchador continues.  Maybe we've come to an end and Kubo will move on.

Renji's bankai has changed for the better, it appears.  It's not just Hihiou Zabimaru any more, it's Souou Zabimaru.  Apparently, the "souou" bit means "king tail".  As usual, the name of the bankai is reflected in its appearance.

And this one is a bit crazy.  That's rather fitting, isn't it?

What I found most intriguing about this chapter is the flashback to the Soul Realm where Renji and Hyousube talk about names.  Hyousube (the big bad bald monk who bears more than a passing resemblance to Blackbeard from One Piece) comments that he was the one to give names to everything in Soul Society.

This seems important to understanding the manga, somehow.

At any rate, Hyousube teaches Renji the true name of his bankai and Renji proceeds to kick the luchador's ass.  To that I say thank goodness, this fight may actually be over!

I'm guessing next week the focus will switch to Rukia.  Either that, or Kubo will come at us straight out of left field and focus on someone we actually care about, like Ichigo.
