New Bleach chapter. Spoilers ahead. We shall talk, nay, complain mightily!
So much for Ichigo returning to action and then destroying whoever happened to be in his way.
This "battle" that he's involved in (not much drama, since we know who's going to win, no matter how long Kubo drags it out) is pretty unnecessary in the big picture. While it might serve to show how great his two swords/new powers are, honestly, it could have been done in three pages last chapter, had he just destroyed these four ladies in a single blow.
Unfortunately, he didn't do that and now we're stuck waiting for a conclusion once again, so that the manga might eventually move on.
Simply put, this "battle" does not interest me, because the four ladies Ichigo is fighting clearly are not on the same level as he is.
There might be three people on that level right now, and they're all waiting at the top of the Vandenreich's HQ.
So for the moment, that means I'm counting Ishida. I'm sure that whatever he did to become Bach's "successor" augmented his power in a definable way that will make him on-par with Ichigo. If not on-par, then at least close enough so that it could be a good fight.
Of course, the problem is that if Ichigo is being held back by having to fight these four Stern Ritter (and whoever else afterward), he's not heading toward Vandenreich HQ to take on Haschwald or Ishida. He's not doing what I want to see, and very likely what the rest of the readers want.
It's hard to imagine that people waited 20+ chapters for him to return and were then like, "yeah, he should spend 2-5 chapters beating up on people who are clearly below him".
It's unnecessary. Moreover, it's another symptom of Kubo stretching out the manga to impossible length in order to reach chapter 600 (or beyond) when there's clearly no point to it. Ichigo is in Seireitei to "save" or "help" the rest of the shinigami there. The best way for him to do that is to skip past these small-fries who have been dominating the manga since chapter 547 and get on with fighting the big boys.
It's sad that this manga should ever be boring when the main character is involved and has just powered up to a new level. And yet that's what we have here and now.
