Spoilers after the cut.
I've read dumber chapters. Clearly, this was not one of the better ones that Kubo has put out, even since the beginning of this arc.
What we've got is the aftermath of the beatdown endured by Hisagi, Madarame, and Ayasegawa. You'd think the captains would leave well enough alone. The masked Stern Ritter is heading for Renji and Rukia, so why bother?
Apparently, Kensei and Rose aren't too smart.
Kensei immediately whips out his bankai (what a crutch that has turned out to be, huh?) and goes to town on the masked Stern Ritter. Then the utterly improbable twist occurs: masked Stern Ritter's strength increases when the "crowd" (in this case, some little shithead) roars for him. Now Kensei gets the tar knocked out of him and the masked Stern Ritter stands somewhat triumphantly.
Next week, Rose's turn to get beat down, I guess?
And let's not forget that we've been teased Renji/Rukia showing up and doing damage for about three weeks now. Nothing has happened. Same with Ichigo. Nothing has happened with him either.
Anyone out there who doubts that this manga is going to hit 600 chapters is quite the optimist.
