The Bridge (US) - Season 2, Episode 6 "Harvest of Souls" Recap

I think I have an inkling of what the title means this time around.

Episode 6 of The Bridge, recap here and now!

Spoilers after the cut.

If there's anything "Harvest of Souls" did, it was raise the stakes.

Pintado was kidnapped and eventually murdered.  Juarez cops were sent after Marco and Sonya; although it wasn't shown explicitly, the sounds of gunfire would seem to indicate that Marco killed them.  Chip Diaz was present at El Paso PD to talk about what Eleanor did at Red Ridge.  And while Frye and Adriana have been working a story for a while now, it looks like it's too troublesome to print.

I guess the biggest event was Pintado getting kidnapped and murdered. The conversation that occurs between Galvan and Grupo Clio's CEO Sebastian indicates that the blame falls on Capitan Robles.  Pintado may have been overly idealistic (not to mention in over his head), but he seemed genuine in his mission to root out the evil infesting Juarez (namely, Fausto Galvan).  As Marco alluded to in a previous episode, Robles needed to go down first.  And it was Robles who acted to get rid of Pintado.  Otherwise, Pintado and Marco may well have taken Robles out.

Frye & Adriana are getting closer to having the story put out there.  They meet with a priest who shows them to a room where they're made to put hoods on.  The killer who meets them there appears to be the one that took out Raul Quintana.  Apparently, he also took out Quintana's uncle and his conscience is not feeling too good.  He confesses what he did; Frye & Adriana use that as the linchpin to their story.  They go to Juarez and try to secure a meeting with Grupo Clio's CEO, but eventually leave just as he's about to come meet them.  Frye claims that the story is good enough even without Sebastian's input.  Their editor seems to think otherwise, which leads Frye to take a piss test in the middle of the office.  And when the other guy tells Frye "you're fired", well, Frye decides to discard the contents onto the floor.

A lovely fellow, Frye.

Something's going on at Red Ridge, the complex that has been given over to Charlotte and Ray.  Cesar was there at the same time that Sonya and Hank went to visit; they were unable to find anything, but Cesar took pictures of them and called someone to take care of it.  Who that is, we don't know (but I can sure as hell guess).

Pintado's death has obvious consequences for Eva as well.  Since she was going to give a deposition about the cops that drugged and assaulted her, and Pintado is no longer alive, her frustration boiled over as she attacked the Juarez cop held in Bob's shack.  She eventually buries the body along with Linder.

I expect that the next episode, or two even, will deal with the aftermath of the hotel scene as well as Pintado's death.  See you next week.
