Bleach 549 - The StormBringer

The newest Bleach chapter has been released.  So let's talk about it!

Spoilers after the cut.

Well, there's not much different going on in Bleach this week than there was last week.  It's another chapter that focuses on Omaeda with a smidge of Hitsugaya at the end for "good" measure.  Though in this case, that means annoying the fans who don't give a shit about either of those characters.

But wait, there's more!

When it becomes clear that Omaeda can't handle Quincytron 2000, his captain shows up to bail his ass out.  That's right, Soi Fong is back, and she's "mastered" the shunkou technique that she tried to use against Yoruichi way back in the SS arc, with limited success.  I guess it did work, but since Quincytron 2000 isn't KO'd yet...we'll see.

And if you thought Hitsugaya had scored an easy victory against the flame-retardant Quincy, well, you've been trolled.  As usual.  I really couldn't care less about Hitsugaya transcending the loss of his bankai and whatever obstacles flame-retardant Quincy will throw at him.

So the new arc is much like the other arcs that have come before.  An overly elongated battle with characters that I don't care about that takes this manga well past the 600 chapter mark.  I'm sure there are plenty of Hitsugaya fans out there, but is there anyone who thinks that Omaeda is worthy of screen time, even though Soi Fong is bailing him out?  And speaking of that arrogant broad, I'm not a huge fan of her, either.

I'm not sure how much longer this part of the battle goes on, but until Kubo moves on to something/someone more interesting, I'll greet these chapters with a yawn.
