The Bridge (US) - Episode 11 "Take the Ride, Pay the Toll" Recap

The season finale of The Bridge is just a couple episodes away.  In Episode 11, a confrontation on the Bridge of the Americas goes a long way in determining what will happen the rest of the season.

Spoilers after the cut.

The beginning of the episode seems a bit incongruous compared to the rest. It shows Ray taking Tim's body down into the tunnel.  He finds some men in there who are no longer among the living, shoots another guy who was still alive, and then sets up Tim so that it looks like he was part of the action. Curiously, Ray also takes a package from the table and leaves the tunnel.

David Tate and Marco are in the car on their way to the Bridge of the Americas.  Sonya and Hank are back at El Paso PD; Sonya is not looking well. Apparently the vicodin aren't working as she might have expected.  She continues to suspect that Gus is somewhere they've been before; perhaps he's even in the house that belongs to Tate's uncle.

Tate has a bomb strapped to his chest and a hostage in the trunk.  I had been wondering where Daniel Frye had gotten to.  Since Tate is driving Frye's car, I guess it's not too much of a surprise.

The confrontation takes most of the rest of the episode.  While Sonya and Cooper run back to the house and eventually find the tank where Gus is being held, Marco and Tate have a few tense scenes.  Tate ends up shooting Frye, who falls off the bridge into the water.  He tries to goad Marco into shooting him.  Marco appears quite conflicted; he wants to shoot Tate, but his scruples seem to prevent him from doing so, even with the life of his son at stake.

Sonya arrives just in time to keep Marco from making a huge mistake.  She attempts to tell him that Gus is still alive, but he doesn't believe her.  She has to shoot Marco to keep him from killing Tate.  Sonya also shoots Tate so that he can't get away; Hank then moves in to arrest him.

Now that the killer has been identified and captured, what's next?  Well, I'm not sure, exactly.  Linder and Charlotte didn't make an appearance in this episode, so their stories have to be wrapped up in the last two episodes.  I think there will probably be some kind of reconciliation (or at least an understanding) between Sonya and Marco.  Marco claims that they were partners, but not friends.  I don't really believe this.  Is Tate really done manipulating the situation?  I can't be entirely sure about that either.
