Two more series-clinchers to end the first round. Game 7 is a bitch on the heart.
First, Brooklyn vs. Toronto.
You know, it figures that the series I blatantly ignored and disliked the most would end like this.
Kyle Lowry had the ball with seconds to go and was driving the lane intent on winning the game and series. Then he gets blocked by Paul Pierce and that's that.
Ugh. So now we'll have Heat/Nets in the second round, a matchup that few wanted to see, I bet, including members of the Heat.
Now, I'm sure they'll go out and play just like they would have if they were facing Toronto, but I just have a feeling they would have rather avoided Brooklyn entirely.
Brooklyn wins the series 4-3. They move on to the second round to play Miami.
Last, Dallas vs. San Antonio.
Where the first game had drama and was close, this one had...none of that nonsense.
It was a beatdown from beginning to end. Yeah, there was part of the 3rd quarter that made me think, "oh, maybe Dallas is coming back" when they were down 14.
Dallas lost by 23.
It's funny that both of the top seeds struggled mightily with 8th seeds. That said, I give San Antonio slightly more credit because they played a far better team that actually finished the season over .500. The Hawks couldn't be bothered with that and it showed in the last two games of their series with Indiana.
San Antonio won 62 games in the regular season. Advancing to the second round should have been a formality. Instead, they were tested. Now we'll see what that means for their performance going forward. They could potentially have a tough time with Portland.
San Antonio wins the series 4-3. They move on to the second round to play Portland.
Later today, the second round opens in Indiana and Oklahoma City.
Washington is rested since they won in five. The other three teams, not so much.
