2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Day 23

A funny day of games in the NHL.  Both road teams won, and I got the results I was hoping for!

First, Boston vs. Montreal.

After three games where a bunch of goals were scored and the Canadiens were looking like the better team, there was finally a game that looked more like what people expected going in.

There were strong performances from Rask and Price that basically sent the game into OT.

Matt Fraser came up from Providence and scored the winning goal.  When I saw his name on the box score, I wondered who he was.  Turns out he's a minor-leaguer in the Bruins system who had been up earlier in the season.

Oh, well, can't remember everything.  Good thing NESN (the network that covers the Bruins in New England) had that info available.

Rask saved all 33 shots he faced, while Price saved 34.  Incredible game by those two.

The series is tied 2-2.  Game 5 is Saturday.

Last, Anaheim vs. Los Angeles.

The Ducks dropped the first two at home and some might have expected them to not show up in LA.  Thankfully, they put in a stronger effort offensively and managed to get just enough from their goaltenders.

Frederik Andersen started the game, but exited early with a lower-body injury. He and Jonas Hiller both allowed one goal.

Anaheim was outshot by the Kings 31-22.  They took advantage of power play opportunities in the first and second period to gain their lead.  Teemu Selanne scored the second goal for Anaheim.

They'll need another effort like this one to tie the series.  I'm hoping they get it.  Maybe Selanne will put up another goal or two as well.  That'd be nice for the veteran who's hanging up his skates after the season.

Los Angeles leads 2-1.  Game 4 is Saturday.

Later today, Game 5 in Pittsburgh and Game 4 in Minnesota.  With a win, the Penguins would move on to the next round.
