Day 22 of the NBA Playoffs didn't lack for action, but there wasn't a lot of drama, as usual. Just machine-like execution.
First, Miami vs. Brooklyn.
The Heat came into this game having won six in a row. I figured they would lose one in Brooklyn.
And that's what happened. They were doomed by a bad third quarter in which they scored 14 points.
I didn't really count on that happening.
Still, I don't see how Miami loses this series.
Miami leads 2-1. Game 4 is Monday.
Last, San Antonio vs. Portland.
The Spurs are up 3-0 and they won't be the first team to give up that lead in the NBA.
Their execution is unmatched; Portland has little to no hope of stopping them on a consistent basis. And even if they do, they've had struggles on offense that keep them from being in games for more than a few minutes at a time.
In short, the Spurs are simply better. Even with Lillard and Aldridge, the Blazers don't quite have enough. Their shortcomings as a team have been exposed and the Spurs are just about ready to move on.
San Antonio leads 3-0. Game 4 is Monday.
Later today, Game 4 in Los Angeles (done as of this writing) and Washington (underway as of this writing).
